The devastating 2011 floods in Queensland, combined with extensive urban development and a growing population, have significantly impacted waterway health in South East Queensland.

The annual Healthy Waterways Awards recognise and reward the hard work that individuals, community groups and organisations undertake to protect and restore the health of our precious waterways.
There are nine Award categories open to individuals, community groups and organisations who are working towards achieving healthy waterways.
We encourage entries from anyone engaged in waterway health initiatives. The 2012 Healthy Waterways Awards are open to projects conducted between January and December 2011, including all waterway projects that occurred as a consequence of the January 2011 floods.
Each entrant has the chance to win a share in $23,500 prize money with the most innovative of all category winners receiving the Minister’s Grand Prize worth $10,000. Check out the 2011 winners and finalists.
